Product Summary & Specification

Summary:

Jade Plant with Stapelia pot

Jade plants look like small trees because they have thick, woody stems and oval-shaped leaves. This makes them a great choice as a decorative houseplant. They live for a very long time and are often passed down from one generation to the next. When grown inside, they can grow to be at least three feet tall.

Light:

Each day, jade plants need at least 6 hours of bright light. Young plants should be kept in bright, indirect sunlight. Big jade plants that have been growing for a long time can handle more direct sunlight.
Kitchens and offices with windows facing south or west are usually great places with just the right amount of light.
If you don't give your jade plant enough light, it can get tall and top-heavy. If it falls over or can't hold up its own branches, it could get hurt.
Temperature:

Move jade plants away from cold windows and out of drafty areas during the winter. If jade plants are in cold weather, their leaves may fall off.
Watering:

It's very important to water jade plants the right way! The biggest problem most people have with their jade plants is that they don't get enough water.
When the plant is growing quickly in the spring and summer, it will need more water than at other times of the year. Deeply water jade plants, so that the soil is moist all the way through and not just on the surface. Then, wait until the soil is mostly dry before you water them again. This means that you might have to water it once a week or once a month, depending on how fast the soil dries out where you keep your plant.
The plant may go dormant in the fall and winter, which slows or stops its growth. It won't need much water at this time. Even less than in the spring and summer, you should water it, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings. Large, well-established jades may not need watering more than once or twice during their entire dormant period.
When you water the plants, try not to splash water on the leaves. This can cause them to rot in a humid environment.
Salts in tap water can hurt jade plants, so if your tap water isn't great, use filtered or distilled water to water them.
If the plant starts to lose leaves, shrivel up, or get brown spots on its leaves, it needs MORE water.
If the leaves of the plant become soft and wet, it is receiving TOO MUCH water.
