Dramatic transition has taken place in recent decades in socialist countries of both Asia and Europe. It notices the divergent outcomes of the systemic transition countries and poses the question whether a stable new social model can emerge from the experiences of some of these countries and the countries of stand-alone transition. The discussion of this volume can be helpful for scholars, policymakers, and activists not only of the countries that are undergoing transition but of other countries too. The past cannot be changed, but a sharper understanding of the past can help to shape a better future.
