Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan has a PhD in Theology from Aligarh Muslim University, India. He is currently Professor in the Department of Qur'an and Sunnah Studies, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). His main fields of study, teaching, and research are Qur'anic Studies and Hadith Studies. He has translated several Islamic Studies titles from Arabic into Urdu, English, and Hindi and has authored several works in English: Qur'anic Studies: An Introduction (2000), The Theory of Abrogation: A Critical Evaluation (2006), and Understanding the Qur'an: A Reflection (2006). He is now Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Islam in Asia (JIA), International Islamic University Malaysia. On the Editorial Board of several international academic journals, including Bangladesh Journal of Islamic Thought (by BIIT, Bangladesh), Intellectual Discourse (by IIUM), he has also published around 30 articles in different international refereed journals in USA, India, Pakistan, Malaysia and presented more than 40 papers at international conferences and seminars. He has written a good number of books and articles on Islamic themes. During 2009 and 2010, he visited Bangladesh and presented several papers in the workshops, seminars and conferences with a view to train selected university teachers on how and why to affect changes in the Islamic disciplines. Dr. Khan approaches new techniques and methods to introduce the issue and analyze it. Therefore, the work becomes essentially original.
