About Rick Riordan Richard Russell Riordan, Jr., born in 1964, is an American author. He has written books like The Devil Went Down to Austin, Percy Jackson’s Book of Greek Gods, The Last Olympian, and Rebel Island. The author graduated from University of Texas at Austin, with a double major in English and History. He completed his teaching certification course from UT San Antonio. Riordan taught at Presidio High School in San Francisco for eight years, and at Saint Mary’s Hall in San Antonio for six years. Eventually, he stopped teaching in order to become a full-time writer.
